Profile Tender Fury featured two founding members of T.S.O.L., Jack Grisham and Todd Barnes. Robbie Allen and Daniel Root were the other original members. Obviously, by the time Tender Fury signed to Posh Boy in 1987, Fields and Grisham had resumed their friendship; the punk public was to believe for many more years that Posh Boy had ripped off T.S.O.L.. The truth was rather more complex. This album was released in 1988, initially bearing the Posh Boy logo and Posh Boy catalog number. After receiving support from the late Rick Carroll, program director at KROQ-FM, the album was re-released through CEMA (Capitol Records) distribution and promptly died and went to the cut-out bins.

Tender Fury mix hard rock with new wave/punk elements. Don’t expect to hear the catchy tune or any strong melodies but the guitar work without a doubt is the best part of the record. “Running Around Again” has a rock n’ roll style that I like with great guitar riffs reminds the days of ’70s and the rockin “Let it Go” has a good rhythm. “Mercy Ride” is the best moment of the record especially if you are fan of the new wave style with a standing tune that you will like. The production is quite good with emphasis on guitar riffs and it’s a bit rare to find it nowdays. Similar to Ellison, Snakeryder, Mind at Rsk and Teaser.
