Profile Tai Chi (太極) is a Chinese rock band formed in Hong Kong in 1985 by Patrick Lui (lead vocalist), Joey Tang (guitarist), Gary Tong (keyboardist), Ernest Lau (guitarist), Ed Sing (bass guitarist and backing vocal), and Ricky Chu (drummer). Tai Chi is well known for their catchy and modern tunes, they became known that same year for winning the first edition of the Carlsberg Pop Music Festival. In 1986, the band won “Best Promising New Act” at the RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. They belong to a 1980s generation of Hong Kong musicians known as the “Band-boom Era”, which also includes the groups Fundamental, Beyond, Tat Ming Pair, Blue Jeans, Small Island, Raidas and Citybeat.They sang both in Cantonese and English and offer an amazing album with great production and many catchy, harmony and memorable tunes. They are still active to date and have a large base of fans. The album re-released by Universal Music in 2004. Great stuff…
