Profile Speedway Blvd were a New York based act assembled by famed bubblegum impresarios, Kasenetz and Katz. Looking to capitalize on the booming arena rock sensation that was sweeping the nation at the dawn of the 80’s, the duo put Speedway Blvd together strictly as a studio project. Allowing the musicians their own creative freedom, the unique assemblage of players concocted a potent blend of AOR, new wave and progressive rock. The results were astounding and Epic Records quickly released the album with a massive promotional campaign in tow. For reasons unknown, audiences just didn’t have a clue how to take Speedway Blvd and the album tanked. The project was essentially abandoned and various members went on to Balance (Dennis Feldman) and later Dream Theater (Jordan Rudess ).

We´re talking late 70´s pomp rock in the same vein as Morningstar, Aviary, Roadmaster, MPG and Angel to name a few. The flirt with disco on “Telephoto lens” wasn´t that successful and the reggae rock of “Prisoner of time” bring thoughts to 10 cc´s “Dreadlock holiday” with a touch of City Boy. The high pitched harmony vocals on “Money money” will turn any cloudy day into a beautiful sunny moment, other highlights are:I think I better hold on, Dog in the distance and A Boulevard Night. This album is pretty rare if you are lucky enough to stumble across a copy in a secondhand store, buy it!
