Williams/Friestedt – Williams/Friestedt [2011]

Former Toto singer Joseph Williams and guitar star Peter Friestedt have combined to produce a classic melodic rock album full of great vocal melodies backed up by quality musicianship. The performances and production are great throughout the entire album and the songwriting and vocal arrangements are particularly impressive.

Highlights include the killer melodies of “Say Goodbye”, the amazing Toto vibe of “Where To Touch You” which has to be one of the greatest songs ever recorded, the infectious melody of “Swear Your Love”, the beautiful ballad “Sometimes You Win”, and the closing piano ballad “Letter To God”. Peter Friestedt has really got the Lukather sound covered with both his rythm and lead parts and combined with the former voice of Toto you get that classic Toto sound.

The only downside is that the album has only nine songs running just over 30 minutes so it’s short but sweet. This is highly recommended to fans of Toto and Work Of Art and represents one of the best albums in a strong year for melodic rock.
