Stonehenge – Forgotten Faces [1996]

Here we go with a super rare and hard to find Hardrock / Hair Metal indie gem. Stonehenge are from Bulgaria… and trust me… although I don’t know many Bulgarian Hardrock act, this is an absolutely fantastic and high quality album!
The songs are all sung in English and also the sound, musicianship and the whole attitude sounds more like a US band than like a Bulgarian band.

The opening “Come And Get It”, starts with a huge guitar riff and cool drums and leads into a big gang-vocal chorus and immediately brings bands like XYZ and Dokken into your mind. Especially lead singer Jan-Martin Sol has a great voice that sounds powerful and that has a great range and reminds of the XYZ-singer or the Steelheart-singer. “Lost” contains big heavy guitar riffs and a cool melodiy… Especially the great chorus reminds of Kingdom Come with Lenny Wolf. “Too Late” is what I’d call a true Hair Metal / Glam rocker with blistering guitar work and a great memorable chorus and it sounds a bit like a mix between XYZ meets Steelheart.

After the big powerful hardrock ballad “Belief” (sounds like a cool Warrant-ballad), it’s the infectious “Move” that comes along with a slight funky beat and sounds like It’s Alive meets Extreme. You are missing some AOR tunes? Well, after “Switch Me Off”, a big rocker with George Lynch-like guitar riffs and a monster chrosu even Kiss won’t perform any better, he following titletrack “Forgotten Faces” appears with big AOR keyboards and a super catchy refrain in the vein of Konkurrent meets Know Illusion.

Enough said… It absolutely surprised me, that a Bulgarian band comes up with such a great album and I can highly recommenmd it to any hardrock / Hair Metal fan out there, and especially tpo the top collectors as this baby is pretty hard to track down.
