House Of Lords – Big Money [2011]

House Of Lords continue their amazing run of quality albums with this new release that combines all their best attributes into a very satisfying rock album. This modern version of House Of Lords have made four really strong albums starting with World Upside Down, then Come To My Kingdom, then Cartesian Dreams, and now Big Money.

Each of these has offered consistently strong music with excellent performances and good production techniques. Big Money has good songs, great vocals, and massive guitar sounds with lots of memorable choruses. The only factor that slightly let me down was that the production and mixing is not quite as good as their previous three albums but this is a very minor quibble.

Tommy Denander and Rob Marcello make special guest appearances on guitar in a couple of tracks which is a nice bonus too. Highlights include the huge groove of opener “Big Money”, the great pre chorus of “First To Cry”, the 70’s inspired vibe of “Livin’ In A Dream World”, the massive power ballad “The Next Time I Hold You”, and the party rock sound of “Seven” with some really big backing vocals. Big Money might not be the best House Of Lords album but it definitely will satisfy their fans and will blow away anyone that is yet to hear these guys.
