Eclipse – Bleed And Scream [2012]

Bleed & Scream is the strong new album from Swedish rock masters Eclipse following their previous album Are You Ready To Rock that received a lot of praise from the melodic rock community back in 2008. This new album takes everything they did back then and turns it all up a notch. Anyone familiar with what Erik Martensson has been doing in recent years should know what to expect – big guitars, big drums, big guitar solos, and big vocal hooks!

The production is huge and the musical performances are intense. This really is a very high energy rock album that makes you want to drive fast, party hard, and headbang like it’s the late 80’s again. Highlights include the awesome chorus hook of the energetic opener “Wake Me Up”, the massive power of “Bleed And Scream”, the quality chorus hit of “Battlegrounds”, the intense rock groove of “Take Back The Fear”, and the emotional vocal melodies of the epic power ballad “About To Break”.

Despite the fact that Bleed & Scream doesn’t bring anything new to melodic rock, it is still a high quality album that is essential for fans of the previous Eclipse album Are You Ready To Rock and probably also essential for fans of Whitesnake’s legendary 1987 album as it has a very similar musical style but with better sound production.
