Profile Rare stuff from Simferopol, Russia released back in 1993 through the Russian label Rdm. The band is active since 1982 formed by three experience musicians vocalist Vasiliy Ackimov who has long accompanied with the dancer Mahmud Esambaev among with bassist Yuri Gavrilov and drummer Vladimir Kozinenko, where the last two also collaborated before and took part in the festival “The Spring Rhythms: Tbilisi-80”. The group has been beefed up keyboardists Mikhail Lvov, Gladun Sergei and Nikolai Shevchenko, started playing art rock, fusion and jazz-rock.

In 1982, Shevchenko left and a period of change started. Over five years, keyboardists and vocalists constantly changed. In 1985, the group begins to lean towards the melodic, keyboard-oriented hard rock. Prior to 1986 recorded their first album, sang by Viktor Sorokin,who later worked with the “Joker” . In1988 the group has finally moved to hard rock sound with keyboardist Sergei Tushin and drummer Nikolai Rudenko. In 1987, they released their second album. 

In 1989 they started working on a new album, in the spirit of “Christian” metal. Composition stabilized with the arrival of singer Vasily Akimovand drummer Vladimir Rozdina while in the same year the band changes its name to “Monomakh”, and the band in August of the same year, in the premises of the Church of St. Blaise on Old Arbat Street in Moscow, gave their first concert of the updated group. 

“I Wanted to See an Angel” is the landmark album of the band’s  career, gain airplay from the many radio stations and making big concert tours. They participated  in the first national telethon, television show “50×50”, while  the band at the festival “Steps to Parnassus” they won the third prize.
