Profile “Lionsex” is a new Hair/Glam/Sleaze metal band from the UK and `Get it…’ is their debut.Ever since I ran across their myspace page, I have been holding my breath to get their debut album. And before I head any song samples I felt this was going to be special; there was something about the name you see… “Lionsex”. To the typical rock fan it might sound a bit funny to say the least but for any glam/sleaze/hair metal enthusiast it should sound as something promising: Sensational, aggressive, kinky and melodic-and it did turn out to be exactly that.

Singer Jeff Leppard uses his mid-bass vocal range for the biggest part of the album yet he sounds nothing like a gothic rock singer as his voice a naturally edgy/rough tone that makes his lines sound like smooth roars. His style should be largely appealing as he proves that in glam/sleaze metal (and music in general) it is not as much what you sing but how you sing it. Guitarist JJ Lyons should also get credit for an equally significant contribution: He comes up with classic glam riffs, raw rhythm parts, loud solos while throwing plenty twin guitar melodies mid-song which give the album its distinct flavour. Finally the rhythm section of bassist Davy Lyons and drummer Tommy Tigers recreates old-school glam metal groove.

Above all `Get it’ sounds totally unforced and in the process establishes the band’s distinct sound. And it is the combination of these two qualities that makes the material so infectious; all tracks are favourites on this one! It brings back the romanticism the kinkiness and the atmosphere that characterized the genre in the early-mid 80s before taking over the charts. What more can I say… To any fan of Glam/Sleaze metal, just `Get it…’
