Profile A cool find for female fronted AOR collectors! Simmons is a singer who represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 in Bergen with the song “Pas pour moi”. The song finished second behind Belgium’s entry. Her debut album titled “Shout Back” released in 1988 through Polydor and produced by Nigel Wright (Shakatak). The uptempo opener “Treading On Ice” is an instant winner already with its urgent rhythm, cool guitar fills and a killer AOR chorus which would fit on any big 80’s movie soundtrack like “Flashdance”, “Heavenly Bodies”, “Fire & Ice” etc. I can also hear similarities to Teri Desario’s “Overnight Success” album. While “Hot Nights” delivers more of the same with another short but effective high energy chorus “I Don’t Know” is a huge power ballad which could be directly taken from any early Tone Norum album. Clear highlight on all nine tracks is the sexy and powerful voice of Simmons. If you like artists like Tone Norum, Avalanche, Teri Desario and Laura Branigan check this out.
