Profile Rare 1990 solo album from the Guess Who singer. This Plus Signs album has been out of print for over 20 years. Features the late Jeff Porcaro of Toto on drums on all tracks and Mike Porcaro on bass. This album shows Burton adjusting very well to the time (1990), not with so much of his trademark piano style but a slightly grittier sound that showed he still had it in him. The lyrics as always were distinctly Burton Cummings, and the vocal delivery is top-notch on this collection which is sadly hard to find these days.

Highlights are the single “Take One Away”, “The Rock’s Steady”, lead-off track “The Workaday” and “Free”. If you’re even a casual Burton fan, there’s plenty to appreciate here. If you’ve been a lifelong fan this album is even more interesting. He’s talked for awhile of doing a new album of original tracks but the Guess Who tours of 2000 through 2003 have taken the front burner and now he’s touring through Canada this summer with Randy Bachman doing music from both of their careers while the rest of the Guess Who is tied up in lawsuits over this and that. This album was all about the music…and so is the man who made it.
