Profile Asphalt Ballet released their first album in 1991 and it is an album that needs to be played very loud. It’s a straight up hard rock album with a southern sound which may remind you of Salty Dog and Dangerous Toys. Gary Jefferies has one hell of a voice as he has a rough raunchy sound with lots of balls-to-the-wall type attitude. He provides the faster songs with some great energy but on the slower songs he shows he can sing with great passion. The opening track, Hells Kitchen, it’s a fast paced hard rock song, but Soul Survive takes it down a notch which shows that band are not a party band and that they have great musicianship. The album contains a great mix of hard rock with some blues and funk in there. The song Tuesday Rain is a slow song that once again shows the band care about their music. My favorite songs are Soul Survive, Blood on the Highway, Taking a Walk and Blue Movie. This is a very good album and one to add to your collection if you like southern sounding hard rock.
