Profile Very rare Dutch melodic progressive hardrock/AOR, like a perfect mix between Dare and Marillion. Wings of Steel were originally led by the Dutch core of Peter Van De Ven (guitars), Roland Kok (bass) and Jan Van Heumen (drums, vocals), while Van De Ven and Kok were also responsible for the keyboard parts. Their first album titled “Homesick” released in 1992 via the specialized Melodic Prog SI label. The bands sound is progressive rock but in many of their tracks you can detect their AOR influences. Their style depends mainly in the guitar riffs and lead parts offered by Van De Ven, the keyboards appear in the forefront to a lesser extent, however their addition is that makes the sound very rich at moments with nice orchestral textures and some more flashy moves in an enjoyable Neo Prog style. If you like bands like November, PTS, Rush, Marillion or Splinter check these guys….
