Profile “Vega” is a new UK AOR/melodic rock project bulit around ex-“Kick” singer Nick Workman and “Kiss of life” is their debut album. Even though a brand new collaboration “Vega” has received a fair amount of press suport and it all seems to fall in place when you consider that the project features guitarist Tom Martin and key player James Martin, a songwriting team that largely contributed to highly accliamed melodic rock projects such as “Khymera”, “Sunstorm” and “First Signal”. This time the Martins not only contribute songwriting for “Vega” they also perform as part of the line up on the entire album.

“Kiss of life” is incredibly catchy and uplifting AOR/melodic rock with the most positive choruses that one could come across in 2010. For that matter it is a great plus to experience Nick’s deveopment into an icredible lead singer; his vocal ability and style is easily comparable to that of Mark Free’s at the top of his game during his early `90s AOR days.

The title track of the album has also served as a promo video, but really almost every track has the potential to serve as videoclip. That is mainly because “Vega” features simple melodic lines, intense guitar solos, the authentic AOR beat, while the listener never has to wait for a large chorus to kick in. Favorite tracks include “Stearing at the sun”, “Kiss of life”, “An other” and “Into the wild”. Overall the stellar songwriting in combination with Workman’s passionate performance place “Vega” amongst the most memorable works of the genre in late 2010.
