Profile Formed in 1982 by guitarist Jon Ster and bassist Rob Steimle, STIFF’s line-up wasn’t stabilized until the arrival of vocalist Ron Taylor in 1984 and the duo of drummer Kenny Sizelove and ex SWEET SAVAGE guitarist Mikel Scott a year later. Two track demo emerged in 1986 featuring ‘Dancer’ and ‘So Far Away’ before the release of the ‘Straight Up’ mini album a year later that featured a cover of GIRL’s ‘My Number’ and a guest appearance from DIO guitarist Craig Goldie.

But Taylor felt that STIFF were not progressing fast enough for his liking and, having continually attempted to get his friend Stevie Blaze from the New Orleans outfit LILLIAN AXE to join the ranks, when Blaze suggested Taylor should join his band the singer couldn’t resist.Combining the dirty rock & roll of the Stones, Sweet, Slade, with the metal undertones of 80’s metal ala Motley Crue and the almost unmatched dual pop metal harmonies of Taylor & Ster, STIFF seemed poised for stardom in 1986. However, to the great dismay of their legions of fans STIFF disbanded in 1987 when Ron Taylor, Rob Stratton & Jon Ster joined the New Orleans act Lillian Axe.
