Profile Samuel Kent “Sam” Harris is an American pop and musical theatre recording artist as well as a television, stage and film actor. Harris got his start as the grand champion singer of Star Search in its premiere season in 1983. He gained acclaim and became best known for his winning rendition of the song “Over the Rainbow” on the show. “Over the Rainbow” has since become his signature song. His appearance on Star Search led to him landing a contract with Motown Records. His first single, “Sugar Don’t Bite,” was a Top 40 hit, reaching #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1984.

His debut album came out in 1984 via Motown Records. What was recorded and released was an amazing product. Danceable Pop, and Rafter-Shaking Ballads. Great and glossy production values this was a diverse and eclectic showing of what Sam could do. There are highlights that capture at times what Sam does so well!!! You can hear the passion and drama and intimacy in a few of the songs.. and then you catch a glimpse of truly how gifted he really is!!!!!!!! Check out “Don’t look in my eyes” and “Inside of me” – they are well worth it.
