Wild Kitten – Wild Kitten [2011]

PhotobucketHigh hair, tight leather, and guitars are all the rage in 2011, the year of this self titled release by the band Wild Kitten. Yes, you read right….2011, and generously offering us powerful moments of upbeat hard rock, wrapped in a fancy wrapping glam.

WILD KITTEN were formed in January 2008 out of need and love towards to the hair metal/hard rock genre by vocalist Eliz FoxyFord and guitarist Nikki Love. After several changes in the band’s line up and performing live shows all over Greece with great success, finally they circulate their first work consists of seven tracks, of which four of them came from their demo and have mixed again, as well as including an interesting cover of 80s anthem “In The Heat Of The Night” of Sandra.

All of the songs releasing a unique positive energy flowing coming from the same band and spread nicely to the final recipient. Eliz’s sound superb with harmony and crunchy vocals combined with slick guitar lines outlined by the necessary melody, give a dirty rock “n roll aesthetic that keeps alive listeners interest and avoid threatening to become tedious.

As for the fragments of the songs, on “Get Down On My Knees” there’re an incredibly guitar riffs that will definitely cheer you up while on “Hell On My Wheels” which is my personal anthem the catchy chorus surely it will shake you for good. Great hard edge guitars mixed well with harmony backing vox show us the true potential of the band. On the other hand the power ballad “Illusion” reveals another aspect of the band’s style moving into more melodic paths based to an impressive harmony line, with nice transitions between melodic and hard guitar riffs with incredible passionate vocals, reminds me the ballad “When The Smoke Is Going Down” from Scorpions but with a harder edge. Both of these three songs have the potential to stand alone and support the music style they represent. The opening song “F.U.C.K.” is a very well arranged glam metal song with crunchy guitars and exceptionally good vocals are coming at your ears and forming one of the highlight of this album. The pace continues with “Female Devil”, starts with an impressive opening bass line before the explosive guitars hooks take off the song, and the titled song “Wild Kitten” sound like a glam party song with a very memorable guitar line. The cover to well-known “In The Heat Of The Night” is a good addition to the whole album and quite impressive I can say.

A very good record that rocks profusely and aims to keep you alert throughout its duration, leaving promises for the future…
