Moonshine – Moonshine
The blues has not, and will not ever “Fade Away” if this band has its say. So punch your ticket and take ride on “The American Train” and groove to the music of the band “Moonshine”. Fronted by Derek Davis, singer of the heavy rock band Babylon A.D and produced by Van Halen’s bassist Michael Anthony, who also provides backing vocals, this ten-track album is delicious as a candy apple.
If you like country music, this has something for you. If you like blues, this has something for you. If you like southern rock, this is it! The sound of southern rock has found a home with Moonshine, they seem to transcend musical genres and make everyone tap their toes to their music. With that first riff on ” Mississippi Delta Blues ” you know there is a raunchy guitar sound coming, and the lyrics just bring you right into the song. From there the music and lyrics pick you up and put you in that place that only the legends of music can put you.
The album has quite a few pretty hard rockin’ tunes delivered with an original approach that interestingly enough brings back memories to the earliest efforts of Lynyrd Skynyrd, as it happens by listening “Warm Beer Catfish Stew”. I really enjoy the approach of “Fortunate Son” a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival as it happened with the mid-tempo ballad “The Devils Road” reminds me in some parts the great Tesla. The straightforward rockin’ “Mams Kitchen Brew” is another winner and prove why Derek Davis has one of those all time great rock voices. Deep and masculine enough to exude the power and bravado needed to make this a cool band for guys and hot southern rock chics. If you are fan of Great White then you definitely like “Turn Me Around” and “The American Train”, two songs in the same vein with a bluesy touch and great slide guitar work.
This album is a solid release with no weak spots. Climb up in your pick up, roll the windows down and remember what it was like to sit back and just be taken away in good old American rock and roll southern music .For any Southern Rock fan, this is a required album, especially if you like bands like .38 Special, the Allman Brothers, Aerosmith, Tesla or Lynyrd Skynyrd, then definitely you will love Moonshine.
