Daylight Robbery – Falling Back to Earth [2014]

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - Falling Back To Earth (front)The latest offering from the Birmingham quintet finds them in top form, with Tony Nicholl’s trademarked vocals taking center stage here, and clearly being on another level compared to the album’s predecessor. As expected, the band rides the fine line between Hard Rock and AOR, but due to the organic production, we are treated to a more rocking feel overall.

As in their previous effort, the intricate guitarwork is evident here, however some Progressive elements that were prominent in the past have decreased significantly on this album. Besides the obvious hits that will grab everyone’s attention there also some epic moments (think a Ten/Gary Hughes vibe) but the second half of the album is where the real gems are, as the songwriting gets more emotional. So even though sonically the boys are rocking hard, the AOR flag flies high through the keyboard-laden arrangements and passionate vocal performances making “Falling Back To Earth” a perfect contender for anyone into melodic rock.
