Profile The band formed in 1989 and exploded on the greek rock scene in 1990 following the release of their debut LP “Silk Under the Skin” which was produced independently and was later released by EMI Greece. The band enjoyed great popularity, receiving excellent reviews and dominating the club scene of the early 90s, culminating in supporting Saxon in Rodon club, Athens.

Interest in their music continued through the 90s even after the break up of the group two years after the album’s release. The world wide interest generated since the recent re-release of “Silk Under the Skin” in CD format has prompted the group to re form and begin work on new material. The plan is for the new material to be more guitar based and somewhat heavier than previously but without losing that melodic strength and lyricism which have been the trademarks of the band up til now.

Raw Silk should have had a fair chance at making an international carrier, but they had the unfortunate luck to come from Hellas, and to release a record like that one in a not so good period when the new decade had arrived. After listening to this effort ‘Silk Under The Skin’ you just have to wonder, what other weird and wonderful outposts around the globe have bands playing up to this calibre?
