Profile 1991’s Recycled is the third and final album by the melodic hard rock band Prophet. Like its predecessor (Cycle of the Moon), Recycled featured former Surgin’ main man Russell Arcara on vocals. I know some people find his voice annoying, but I think it suits this kind of music.

Appropriately, Recycled follows the same formula as Cycle of the Moon. The album is a straightforward melodic hard rock release, with big guitar hooks, prominent keyboards and of course a couple of ballads. It seems a bit less inspired than Cycle of the Moon though, as if the band were just going through the motions towards the end of their career. There are some decent songs, but overall it’s the least essential of the three Prophet albums.

It’s not the best the band had to offer, but if you’re a Prophet fan you’ll want to own a copy. If you’re unfamiliar with the band but enjoy melodic rock along the lines of Giant, Von Groove and Bad English, you should check out the band’s earlier albums before listening to Recycled.
