Profile Pearls & Flames is a powerful duo consist by Markus Nordenberg and Tomas Coox, as they have been playing together in AOR bands since the mid-80s.  Nordenberg was the original vocalist in Lion’s Share. Some of the songs on this record were written in their former band Big Price from Sundsvall. The band’s sound is a mixture WestCoast and AOR and can be compare to bands like Toto, Promotion, Starship, Think Out Loud, Millenya and Fergie Ferdeiksen. The album contain eight powerful and well composed tracks well produced and I really like this pure 80s AOR approach the band manage to succeed.

The opening song “Welcome to the Club” has a that 80s aura with some hi-tech and pop elements. On the next two songs “We’ll be Together” and “Can’t Go On” the band’s sound turns into the WestCoast paths with very nice and harmony melodies that brings you back right into the good-old 80s. “I Believe” is a pure 80s AOR ballad with great piano work and incredible melodius vocals while on “State of the Heart” the band move to more poppy sound reminds Jojo from German, but another enjoyable tune. “Heartache is Over” has some soul moments and I think is the only song that didn’t fix with the rest of the songs while “Road to your Heart” is a great uptempo AOR song explode to a fantastic and catchy chorus. Last and my personal favorite is “Side by Side” a harmony and memorable AOR tune that can be heard from the sample.

The album if you can find just cramb it without a second though especially if you like the bands I mention above. Marcus Nordenberg later in 2003  join another Sweden band called “Coastland Ride” that also worth your attention…..
