Profile EDEN’S CURSE is an international melodic Rock outfit initiated during January 2006 by bass player and songwriter Paul Logue, of THE UNLAWFUL, FEAR, WHITE LIGHTNING and CRY HAVOC, and US vocalist Michael Eden. They would soon be joined by a set of well known musicians in THE SHOCK, Paul Dianno’s KILLERS and THE STEVE GRIMMETT BAND credited drummer Pete Newdeck, German guitarist Thorsten Koehne, of ATTACK, DEMON DRIVE and CODE OF PERFECTION repute, and celebrated keyboard player FERDY DOERNBERG, a veteran holding association with ROYAL HUNT, ROUGH SILK, AXEL RUDI PELL and ULI JON ROTH amongst many others.
With the roster completed by June 2006, preparations for a debut album commenced. Koehne’s name had been submitted by his manager Carsten Schulz, current vocalist of EVIDENCE ONE, MIDNITE CLUB and formely of DOMAIN. Logue and Schulz would also be responsible for a significant portion of the songwriting for this first outing. The song ‘Eyes Of The World’ was co-composed with Robby Boebel of EVIDENCE ONE and FRONTLINE, and had previously been featured on the 2004 album ‘Tattooed Heart’. Duties behind the desk, including mixing and mastering, were delegated to PINK CREAM 69 bassist Dennis Ward. There would also be pedigree in evidence on the backing vocals front too, with Carsten Schulz, DAVID READMAN of PINK CREAM 69 and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, CORNERSTONE, RAINBOW and MIDNIGHT BLUE man Doogie White all aiding in the studio.
EDEN’S CURSE released an EP, entitled ‘Seven Deadly Sins – The Acoustic Sessions’, on June 10th 2008 via Metal Mayhem Music. Produced and mixed by Paul Logue and mastered by Dennis Ward, the set featured seven renditions of tracks from the debut album.
‘The Second Coming’, again produced by Dennis Ward, was released in Japan via Spiritual Beast on 15th October 2008, North America via Metal Mayhem Music on 22nd October and finally in Europe via AFM Records on 24th October. Backing vocals throughout came from TNT and STARBREAKER man Tony Harnell plus the RAINBOW and CORNERSTONE credited Doogie White. Duetting with Michael Eden on the track ‘Angels & Demons’ was Pamela Moore, best known for her portrayal of Sister Mary on QUEENSRYCHE’s ‘Operation Mindcrime’. Japanese versions of ‘The Second Coming’ added a Karaoke version of ‘What Are You Waiting For’.
EDEN’S CURSE toured the U.K. and Ireland in May 2009 as the opening act for STRATOVARIUS and FIREWIND. Alessandro Del Vecchio featured as a member of BRUNOROCK on the Bolzano based act’s 2009 album ‘War Maniacs’. The group spent the majority of 2010 in the studio writing and recording their third album Trinity, however they took some time out to make their live debut on US soil with an appearance at MelodicRockFest 2, near Chicago, alongside Y&T, Winger and Danger Danger to name but a few.
In March 2011 they released their third studio album Trinity which is packed with all their traditional trademarks, and is arguably the most powerful sounding Eden’s Curse record to date. It also marked the bands recorded debut with new keyboard player Alessandro Del Vecchio. In March 2012 the band announced Italian vocalist Marco Sandron (Pathosray/Fairyland) as the new voice of the Eden’s Curse with the release of a brand new single and promotional video entitle Time To Breathe. The new look lineup will make it’s live debut at PPM Fest in Belgium in April.
In July 2013, ending ten months of speculation, Eden’s Curse finally announced that Serbian born vocalist Nikola Mijic (Alogia / Dreyelands) had been appointed as their new singer and that Alessandro Del Vecchio had also left the group to further his growing career as a mixing engineer. Del Vecchio’s place was taken by highly respected former Power Quest main man and keyboard player Steve Williams, who was also an ex-member of Dragonforce.
With the new line up in place the group revealed that their new album “Symphony Of Sin” would be released in October 2013 by their long term label partners AFM Records and Spiritual Beast (Japan). Preceding the albums release is the groups most sumptuous promotional video to date for the lead single “Evil & Divine”.
Shot on location at the famous renovated Church St. Andrews in the Square in Glasgow, the video is a sophisticated moody-yet-dark love story between the protagonist, played by Mijic, and an angelic figure.
With long term mixing engineer Dennis Ward and graphic designer Thomas Ewerhard (Edguy, Avantasia, Jorn Lande) on board the finished results were always guaranteed to sound and look spectacular, but it’s the meat on the bones of “Symphony Of Sin” that really matters.
Eden’s Curse make a triumphant return with their most cohesive batch of songs to date on an album that the band members describe as “special”. Add to that a visual transformation that produces results that declare with undeniable fact that Eden’s Curse has never looked or sounded better.
The new look line up is set to make its live debut at Firefest in October 2013 alongside acts such as the Jeff Scott Soto fronted W.E.T. and Harem Scarem amongst many more.
The future looks ever brighter for the British / German / Italian quintet who head into the studio to record their most hotly anticipated record to date, later in the year. The best part is … this band is just getting started!
