Profile LOVERING from Canada has released a CD titled ‘Calm before the storm’ and while listening to the songs, it’s like you’re listening to ‘the perfect AOR sound’! The songs are filled with hooklines, catchy choruses, many harmonyvocals and pure AOR. Besides, the production is crystal clear and so we can easily call this a sensational release. The music can easily be compared to ROKBOX. LOVERING also consists of two members, namely guitarist/keyboardplayer Brian Lovering and vocalist Doug Martin.

One of the additional musicians is Murray Daigle from EMERALD RAIN/PAIN who does backing vocals. Together they have created a perfect summer AOR record that will attract all AOR fans (ROKBOX, BAD ENGLISH, SIGNAL, ALIAS). The only complaint I have is that I miss uptempo rockers, but who cares if you get to hear 10 fantastic midtempo AOR tunes. There aren’t any fillers on this record, from the beginning until the end it’s classic 80s AOR all the way!

My favourites include “One more lie” (Fantastic midtempo AOR a la ROKBOX), “I’ll give her my love” (superb semi AOR ballad a la BAD ENGLISH), “The love in your eyes” (superb midtempo AOR like STREET TALK, first HAREM SCAREM…), “Nowhere to run” (lovely semi AOR ballad a la BAD ENGLISH), “Forever” (very strong midtempo AOR like JOURNEY) and “Feel this way” (wonderful AOR ballad in the ALIAS style). If you like bands like Drive She Said, Boulevard or Alias this record should worth a listen!!!
