PROFILE

I guess most of you never heard of Dom Torsch before… “Funny Things” was released in the 80’s and that’s exactly where the journey on this album leads you: right into the mid 80’s. If you listen to the cool opener “Funny Things” you will think of Corey Hart with his great songs in the 80’s – great mix of rocking guitars and swirling keyboards and Dom Torcsh’s voice sound very close to Corey Hart. It goes on with the quirky and Hi-Tech influenced “Hi-Jack”, before the pure AOR track “Watch Over You” brings some Glen Burtnick to my mind.

The great keyboard driven “Shake It”, a catchy uptempo song reminds me of early Michael Damianand Joe Pasquale , while the melodic “Fight” could have been taken from Glen Burtnick’s masterpiece “Talking In Code”. “Takin’ Us Apart” shows up with a cool saxophone solo and a memorable hookline in the vein of Corey Hart again, while the keyboard driven ballad “Dark Room” and the super catchy “Running ‘till The Day” both are two more highlights. The production is also flawless and the musicianship – as you imagine – on the highest level.

The 12 tracks are not AOR by numbers at all, the songwriting is ambitious, the arrangements with lots of little details and the performance of  Dom Torsch and his backing band outstanding.
