PROFILE

Melodic rock band with some bluesy element from Boston, Massachussets formed in 1987 and this is their first album released on October 22, in 1991 on the Critique label. All songs written by Cliffs Of Dooneen except “Mr. Dog Went East and God Went West music CDs Tambourine Man” (Bob Dylan). Dog Went East and God Went West CD music contains a single disc with 12 songs. The album style, delivery and song selection does vary, if that bothers or confuses some… might explain why they are so underappreciated.

The sound also included tinges of the power pop of such groups as Cheap Trick and Enuff Z’Nuff. Some of the material even feels a bit like Dave Matthews. Although the overall texture has a slightly gritty, straightforward rock style, the album shows very competent songwriting and arranging, getting quite intricate at times. All in all, it is really surprising that these guys didn’t make a larger impact than they did.
