Profile US rock band Channel formed in the early 80s. Fleischman put together the group after releasing an unsuccessful solo album and nearly becoming the vocalist with Journey. What might have attracted Journey was made immediately obvious with Channel’s self-titled debut for Epic Records in 1984. Fleischman’s vocal acrobatics dominated this AOR selection, which ranged from moody blues workouts to soft rock ballads.

However, Channel broke up immediately after its release. Fleischman subsequently joined Vinnie Vincent’s Invasion, while Furgason went on to work with the Gary Moore Band. If you like bands in the vein of “The Outfield” and “Novo Combo”, you will also this one.

Great songs, bought the reissue from Rock Candy. Not the rockiest of AOR groups, but sharp and peppy nonetheless. Great vocals, I’m By Your Side is a great opener. Love the photo on the cover, that’s the reason I bought the album in the first place haha.
