Profile Bratz. The Cadillac Bratz were the premier rock band of the early 1990’s hitting the Treasure Coast of South Florida with full force in their heyday. With roots that go back as far as 1970s Detroit, a young vocalist named Michael Spaz McGoorty belted it out with The Cadillac Kids, dominating the Detroit music scene. In the 1980s, Spaz relocated to Port St Lucie, FL and began to put together his own version of the Cadillac Band. He wanted to find other musicians that shared his passion and vision, other musicians that could keep up with his pristine vocals and high energy. Playing with some local musicians, he met with Wade Jackson and the magic was there.

Spaz realized early on that Wade’s amazing guitar playing and vocals was like no other’s and quickly recruited Jackson into his army. Jackson introduced a kid, who’s aggressive bass playing style was like no one else’s. That kid’s name was Chris Morriah. Morriah, hailing from NYC, already had experience beyond his years playing with various NY heavy metal bands and felt like he had to be a part of it and was ready to join. The Cadillac Bratz were born. With moderate success playing locally around the Treasure Coast area, there was still something missing. In comes Joey Cotoia, a drummer from NYC who was a long time friend of Morriah’s. Bang! The band is complete.

They quickly became the type of band that they always dreamed of being. Joey’s heavy handed, high energy drumming was the missing ingredient giving this Cadillac the high octane fuel that it needed to reach unheard of speeds and performance. The Bratz dominated the Florida concert scene in the early 1990s. They played everywhere in Florida from Miami to Tampa opening for such bands as Dokken, The Romantics, Edgar Winter Group, Atlanta Rhythm Section and REO Speedwagon , just to name a few. They played at Disney’s Pleasure Island numerous times and were featured on the TV show Club Jam. They were nominated for a “Jammy” in 1992 as Jam magazine’s best rock band and released their CD- “Fasten Your Seatbelts” in 1991 which went on to sell many copies and achieve radio airplay on every major rock station in Florida.
