Profile Hailed from Winchester, Virginia, Blackmail formed in 1983 played a mixture of melodic heavy metal and hard rock, with many live appearances and many fans across the country. The band produced two albums “Hot, Hard and Heavy” and “Hit N’ Run“, released on tapes but unfortunatelly the changes in the music scenes won’t help them and the band split-up in 1990 where some of the members join other local bands and some raised their families. Their first effort cross more to heavy paths than their second effort cross between sleazy/hard rock style. The vocals of Welch are simply outstanding like their songwriting. Twelve years later the band re-united for some live shows with many success while they working on a new record that will produced by Beau Hill. Rare release that worth the search.

It hard enough for hard rock and heavy metal bands to get recognition for the genre of music that it is but I’m one of those metal heads who has grown up on that style of music and in the early 80’s there is one band that stands out the most BLACKMAIL whether it be Virginia, West Virginia (shiley acres) or overseas etc BLACKMAIL is one of the hardest heavy metal bands to come around these parts in a long time so with all due respect I can’t wait to see them jam there A**es off at the BLUEFOX in Winchester June 11th keep up the good work keep up the good work God love ya God bless ya your metal head friend CARBINE STULTZ
