Profile Black Cherry were active between 1987-1991, fronted by Paul Black after leaving L.A. Guns and quickly became one of the most popular and sought after bands in L.A., while one of the original members of Black Cherry was the artist now known as Ukulele Bartt, who at the time was a guitarist and singer. In their first live appearance they open for Jane’s Addiction, 45 Grave, Iggy Pop, and Lords of The New Church. The band wrote many songs and one of them was actually released on a Metal Blade compilations record called Street Survivors. The song was called “The Devil In You” and it got a lot of radio airplay, got them a lot of recognition, but the record deal was still on hold cause a lawsuit filed by Black against his former band L.A. Guns and Polygram Records kept Black Cherry from signing a deal. Lasting four years without a deal, they played their last show in April of 1992 at the Whisky A Go Go. In October 2008 they reunite for a one time show at the Viper Room in Hollywood as a tribute to their rhythm guitarist Curtis Grant, who tragically passed away after losing his battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 39.
