Tone Norum  is a Swedish pop singer who gained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. scoring several chart successes in Sweden. She is the younger sister of John Norum, the guitarist from the rock band Europe. Tone Norum was born in Vardø, Norway, but her family moved to Sweden when she was still a baby.

In the wake of her older brother John Norum, who was only a year older than her, Tone learned the guitar. John has formed a group called Force (which later became the European group), Tone in turn based a rock band called The Rose, who will play in the first part of Force. But it was in 1985 that she will be successful with the single “Can not you Stay” that ranks number 1 in the charts in Sweden.

Her debut album, “One of a Kind”, was released in 1986. Joey Tempest wrote all the songs except “And I” where Europe keyboardist Mic Michaeli gets a co-write for the music and Tone Norum gets a co-write for the lyrics and the number “Secrets Of A Heart” which Tone wrote all by herself. Joey Tempest does all the instruments and drum programming for all the tunes, Ian Haugland (Europe drummer) weighs in with some additional drums and Tones older brother John chimes in with a bunch of guitar solos – some of which are actually quite nice as you’d expect. Oh and some bloke by the name of Ronnie Thunder does background vox on a bunch of tunes along with Joey.

For her follow up album Tone took an even more pop oriented direction despite being clad in a leather jacket on the front cover and the guest appearance of none other than Yngwie Malmsteen on the lead cut “Point of No Return”but also featured another hit, the vocal duet “Allt som jag känner” with Tommy Nilsson.

Her 1990 album “Red” was produced by her then husband/ musician/ producer Max Lorentz. Norum’s 1992 hit, “Don’t Turn Around” was a cover of the Tina Turner song. In 1992 her 4th album “Don’t Turn Around” released and produced by Ole Evenrude while he wrote many of the songs.

With her latest work “Stepping Out” came out in 1996 we see a more seasoned Tone Norum coming across as far more comfortable in her own skin sallying forth with the sort of generic female fronted singer/songwriter stuff you’d expect of someone who has been to the puppet show and seen the strings and seemingly come out the other side with their brains not turned to mush.

Today, Tone Norum lives in Nyköping, Sweden, with her two children and her husband. It runs a shop in which Tone admits work occasionally. She occurs in some concerts, like in 2011 for a small tour nostalgia. In May 2013, Tone returns to the stage for more regular benefits with her brother John Norum. It is primarily an acoustic tour in Sweden and Norway in April and May. In June 2013, she made an appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival. Then she announces a second tour with John Norum for fall 2013.
