Style Glam/Hard Rock

Formed in San Francisco by guitarist KV and vocalist Michael Arden in the first half of the 1980’s, glitter rock combo Ruby Slippers (who took their name from the magical shoes worn by the character Dorothy in the 1939 “The Wizard Of Oz” movie) relocated to LA shortly after their formation in search of that elusive record deal. But despite A+R interest of various degree at several stages of the band’s run, they never found a home at any of the major or even smaller record labels, with the exeption of having their track “Mon Cheri” included on a Renaissance Records compilation.

During its existence (from 1984 to the early ‘90’s) the band recorded 4 demo tapes…Fitstly moving to Hollywood hooking up with Drummer vocalist Nigel Itson.A mover and shaker who had cut his teeth with London with Lizzy Grey , and with St Valentine featuring future D,molls vocalist Desi Rexx.

With a secure line up of aforementioned Kv (guitars),Nigel Itson (drums/vocals),Michael Arden (Lead Vocals),Peter Kals ( keys) and Jimmy James (bass). They recorded a four demo of glitter rock spawning  regional hit cover “Sugar Sugar”, whilst the rest of la were glam metal  with leopard skin , most Strip afficiandos agree Slippers started the  new wave that Poison perfected. The demo secured them worlwide interest  in the likes Of England and japan.

Out went keyboards man Kals and bassist Jimmy James Enter Dj bassist and dress wearing glamour god extrodinaire , this was  the perfect line up for Slippers to get signed with the most OTT image  in La since Kery Doll , only even more extreme , unfortunately this  line up never recorded , but with Dj ,Itson an V in the same band , the  strip was changed forever. With Vocalist Michael Arden having personal problems and Dj moving on, the dynamic duo of Kv and Nigel Itson recorded themselves a five track  demo With glitter monster anthem “Hollywood Suicide” .Nigel took over  on Lead vocals , bass originall was filled by ex doll /Salty Dogster  Michael alice , but when they showcased fellow Kery Doll bassist Rexx  stepped in alongside Monstrous castle Blak drummer Mathias Montgomerry, their first gig at The Roxy left Record cos astounded by the image, they were just so over the top.

Final 4 track demo featured their most prolific gigging line up complimented by bassist Vinnie Votel and skinsman Mickey kinner , but the glitte began to fade … All 4 re surfaced in diferent groups later on but the magic was never rekindled. Cut to 200 , an unofficial cd is unleashed”You’ve Tasted Glam…Now Swallow Glitter” With a renewed interest in the strip heroes.
