Country Canada

Style Glam/Punk/Hard Rock

Deadline hailing from the Southwestern Ontario city of Sarnia active in the late eighties and early nineties first in Sarnia and later in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band began in 1990 when brothers Tim and Tom Woods on vocals and drums respectively among bassist Paul Albert and guitarist Shawn Meehan were attending music class at Humber College in Toronto.

They all quit the college and become a full time all-original act. With a budget of $20.000 recorded and released they first work, a 10-track demo tape recorded at Toronto’s Metalworks Studio owned by members of Triumph. The fame of the band started to get grown with the song “Friction Addiction” featured on RAW M.E.A.T. #3 compilation of 1992 with Raw Trixx, Justin Sane, Sinister Fiend, Russian Blue and Slam Glory among others.

In 1992 they released their first official work re-recorded some of their first demo tape tunes and some new, where they won best originals for “Doobie Do Ya” and “Donna (Do you Wanna)” at the TO best new band contest at local TO club The Spectrum. They took part in “Labatt’s Blue Band Warz” and releasing the video of “Donna (Do you Wanna)”.

Although the fame they gain the band was still trying to find their sound and personality. Their second effort “So This Is Limbo” from 1994 just destroy the promises for the band’s future as they cut down the guitar solos and streamlined everything to its melodic basics. They have further moved into the pop/punk style but maintain a funky attitude. The song “Freind In Me” was well received in Canada on the radio and looked to set the band up for what was to become their first full length album & massive commercial success. The production values of this E.P. are passable but come off a little thin making the band’s sound a little lightweight.

“Tangible Vibe” released in 1996 is the band’s first full-length album. Two singles released from the album “Living Proof” and “Kill me slowly” but both of which failed to ignite at radio. The band toured and playing in clubs but nothing help them to break nationwide and they split-up a little later.
