Born in early 2006 in Annecy, French Alpes, BlackRain in not really a new baby in the cradle of rock ‘n roll. Indeed, the group already has two albums under their belt. Two CDs – “BlackRain” (2007) and “License to Thrill” (2008) – which have permitted the band to play a lot in France course, but also all around Europe and even in Japan where they headlined clubs and played with different local acts.

“At our arrival in Japan, we were completely unknown… First we had to play for less than 10 people… At the end of a month, through the word of mouth, rooms were sold out… It was our first real tour and it confirmed that we were made for this…” remembers Max 2 between two killer solos…

In Europe, so far, Sweden is without doubt the territory where BlackRain is the most successful. Over there, they have learned a lot. First “License to Thrill” has been mixed by Chris Laney (Zan Clan) at Polar Studios in Stockholm, then in terms of concerts they often crossed paths with their friends of Sister or Crashdiet and participated in several festivals.

Raised with the “larger than life sound” of WASP, Guns N ‘ Roses, Ratt and Mötley Crüe, BlackRain has devoured its influences in order to quickly grow and become even more powerful. Not really the kind of band you can see often on the French rock scene, BlackRain is certainly, according to feedback from magazines such as Burn! in Japan, Sweden Rock Mag and Rock One and Rock Hard in France, one of the brightest hopes of the new wave of glam rock/metal which (re)starts to crack open around the world. “We are all living a tough period, people really need to be moved out of their daily lives of partying… The depressing atmosphere which was proposed by the grunge bands in the 1990s is over… The growing interest that BlackRain and all these “glam rock” new comers can generate is proving that the public expects something new to happen in rock in general and in maybe even more in metal ” comments bassist Matthew H. when talks about the music he loves to perform and listen to.

It must be said that during the past year, BlackRain has made its best efforts to share their rage to win and conquer the hearts of more fans. The determination and sacrifices from those four boys started to finally pay off in 2009, when ‘License To Thrill’ was re-issued by Listenable Records, known for having launched French metallers Gojira.

At the same time, BlackRain began work on their third album, but didn’t necessarily succeed in finding the right winning formula. By the end of 2009, through friends, Swan & co attracted the attention of French producer / manager Dany Terbèche (Trash, Enfer magazine, Tokyo Blade, Gypsy Queen…). Together they quickly reworked all new compositions and started to develop a proper sound. The brand new team was locked in a studio for months, from where they rarely came out, just to support Europe in Paris, play a memorable concert in Tunis or be part of the Motocultor Festival.

“On the first day of studio, we realized that Dany was on the same musical level as we. He gave us his experience while we’re leaving free on our musical choices and what we wanted to express through our songs. He has quickly become the fifth member of BlackRain. This is true, there are 35 years between us, but he has a great musical culture and is certainly less corny that most guys our age…” Swan, vocals / guitar and responsible for most of the song writing, does not hesitate to say his feelings high and strong.

Mixed during Summer 2010, “Lethal Dose Of…”, the third and new album of BlackRain will be released on February 14th 2011, under their own label, distributed by Wagram Music in France and SPV in the rest of Europe.

Meantime, BlackRain, which had added into its ranks a new drummer, was confirmed as special guest of Alice Cooper, in Marseille (South of France) on Saturday November 20th. Then on Tuesday December 14th, they will play with Papa Roach, in Paris at Le Trabendo, for the very first edition of the Bring The Noise Festival organized by Oui FM, the leading Rock Radio Station in France. “My integration was made much easier that I thought… These guys are at least as crazy as they are nice… I am really looking forward for those next gigs to show what BlackRain can do live… “, said Frank F. a few weeks after he joined the gang

After having supported Scorpions on their french tour and after a parisian sold out gig in front of 700 fans the 11th of december, BlackRain prepare a tour in UK.
