Profile Initially named Girls Next Door, the female group The American Girls began its existence as a project from a movie, but very soon moved beyond it and independently recorded an album at the studio of I.R.S. Records in 1986, featuring Brie Howard formerly of the All Girl Rock Band “Fanny”. Contradictory articles appeared in the press, some compared The American Girls with The Go-Go’s group. The American Girls never got a financial reward for the album released. They went on tour in Southern California for a couple of years, before completely disintegrating in 1987.
